"For the first time ever, I feel wicked."

Ok, so if you have read my blog for a while, you know I did a book review on the book titled "Wicked". The book took me a while to read, but in the end it was a good read. I felt so sorry for the Wicked Witch of the West. When I was a child I hated the witch, but through this telling of what lead up to her death, I couldn't help but have a soft spot for the poor thing.

Well before, during, and after reading the book, I wanted to see the Broadway production of "Wicked". I searched on YouTube for some clips that people had uploaded and found a good many. A lot of them have sense been taken down due to copyright issues. But in my searching, I found someone had recorded the whole play and uploaded it. So I partook, is that really a word...anyway, I partook in watching it with the many others who had seen it before me. And I just doubled checked, yep, its a word. ;-) The recorded is decent, but it works more in your favor if you had read the story. The play was pretty good. It kept to the book a good amount. It did deviate off the course of the book to tame it down some and I guess help it make more sense with the parts they had or chose to omit. This blogger here best explains the play as compared to the book. WARNING, there are spoilers if you have not seen the play or read the book and plan to do either or both. You have been warned.

I now want to see the play in person. I am glad I got to watch this version because it was the actresses I like playing the parts of Galinda/Glinda and Elphaba. I believe this had the original cast actually. The singing part was very powerful. Idina Menzel has such a chilling voice, meaning it will send chills down your spine due to how good it is. The whole cast was just wonderful. I am trying to decide if I should upload my copy somewhere and make it private and only allow those with serious interest in viewing to see it or not. I can't find the original upload any more. I'll have to think on that a bit. I'll let you know what I decide.

Until then, go out and partake of the book...yeah that's a real word too. :-D Speaking of which, I want to get the original "Wizard of Oz", since I've never read it. Also I want to get "Son of a Witch" as well. I think that's title of the next book following "Wicked". I'm sucked into the story of these characters now. Even more so after seeing the play. So that is next on my list of things to get. And of course when I get them and read them there will be a book review on them both here. :-) Well, I am off to post one more long post that should have been done last Friday, but I got lazy. :-D Bye for now.

ETA: Ahem...for those of you who wanted to see it. I did a search just for you. :-) And you are in luck, from what I read, this is where Taye Diggs stood in for a while. Wicked. Enjoy.

Lovingly Yours,
Paisley Girl

Wicked is coming to Denver I think in October. My son and I really want to see it. He has read the book and I'm waiting for his friend to return it so I can read it. We have the soundtrack and you are right, Idina has an amazing voice. Can't wait to see it.

Oh lucky you. I would love to see. I asked my boyfriend if would take me to see it and he's on the Wicked train with me. He's a love. So hopefully it will be playing somewhere that we can see it. I just wish the original cast was doing it. :-( But they have had some really good actors and actresses playing the parts so I am sure there will be no disappointment.
